VICE CHANCELLOR

 

 
 

Rev. Fr. Dr. Deus Karemire (PhD) is the Vice Chancellor of University of Saint Joseph Mbarara and the Chief Executive of the University. He is appointed by the Board of Trustees of the Archdiocese of Mbarara.

  Among the main tasks of the Vice Chancellor are to: 

  • Coordinate all administrative, academic, and public relations affairs of the University.
  • Link the University with Government, Public and Academic Institutions within and outside Uganda.
  • Secure a financial base sufficient to allow the delivery of the University’s mission, vision, core values, aims and objectives.

Carry out certain important ceremonial and civic duties.

Experience

  • Rev. Fr. Dr.  Deus Karemire served as Deputy
    Director of Uganda Martyrs University – Nyamitanga Campus, a position he held
    from 2014 to 2018. Previously he was a Dean of the Faculty of Arts and
    Humanities at Kampala International University-main campus where he was also a
    member of University senate from 2011–2014.

  • From
    2009 to 2010 he served as an Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and
    Humanities at Kampala International University and a member of University senate.
    He was a lecturer at Kampala International University from 2006 to 2014 in the Faculty
    of Education. He also served at Makerere University as a part- time lecturer at
    the school of Liberal and performing Arts. 

  • From 2016 to 2020 he was an external Examiner at Mbarara University of Science and
    Technology.
